Ford F-150 shipments were delayed by the Detroit-based automaker this week due to a shortage in parts, according to Bloomberg News.

A spokesperson with Ford told the news agency that most of the trucks will be shipped and the shortage affects a small percentage of the trucks. She did not say which part was facing a shortage.

When the new 2011 model is introduced nationwide, the Fords stockpiled in lots near Detroit will be shipped out, Bloomberg said.

The delayed shipments could be more than a small setback for the automaker, analysts said.

“It’s a negative for Ford because of the lost revenue and the lost volume. It’s one of the most profitable vehicles in their range,” Jim Hall, a researcher with 2953 Analytics, told the news agency.

This comes as Ford announced they are going to add 1,800 jobs at their Kentucky manufacturing plant, which will be revamped, according to Reuters. Ford plans on spending around $600 million to upgrade the plant.

The overhauled plant will be used primarily to make its Escape SUV.
