Did you know that you need to make sure that your brain stays in good health as well as your body? Most people spend so much time thinking about their physical health in terms of their body that they forget about brain health and how important it is. There are foods to improve your brain health which you might not be eating very much of in your diet, and if you can gradually increase more of these foods into your daily diet, you will start to see a big difference.

  1. Oily fish

This is one of the foods that most people don’t eat simply because they don’t like the taste of it. A lot of people don’t like the texture of oily foods either, so they choose to omit these from their diet. However, oily fish, such as mackerel and salmon, come with high amounts of Omega-3, which works wonder for brain health. If you don’t like the idea of eating oily fish on a regular basis, try mixing it with other foods. For example, try it with salads, potatoes and other vegetables or even with some toast. If you’re still not sure about it, try small amounts of it at a time, rather than trying to eat too much. You can also buy tinned fish with tomato or BBQ sauce which could be a good option for you too.

  1. Strawberries and Blueberries

Strawberries have been known to cleanse the brain and get rid of any toxins, and they’re really tasty too! While some people have allergies to certain types of berries including strawberries and blueberries, if you’re lucky enough to be able to eat them, you might as well take advantage of this! You can mix them in a fruit salad, pour yogurt or cream over them and make it into a delicious breakfast or dessert. Strawberries were shown in a study to delay memory loss in females for more than two years. Blueberries also come with a ton of benefits for your brain, including helping prevent memory loss, increasing concentration, and making your attention span longer.

  1. Walnuts

Walnuts are one of the best nuts that you can consume, not just because they’re good for improving brain health. Like the oily fishes, walnuts contain Omega-3 fatty acids, so if you’re still not too keen on the fish idea, walnuts could be a great alternative! The biggest problem with nuts is that it’s a very common allergy, so some people are left with no option other than oily fish or tablets if they want a good source of Omega-3. Vitamin E is also one of the great benefits of walnuts, since this helps prevent a decline in mental health, especially in older people. Walnuts can also help to reduce the chances of developing mental diseases such as Dementia and other problems.

  1. Water

Water is possibly one of the best things that you can consume, not only for your brain health but for your body and mind in general. Not only can it help with losing weight, skin problems, hair problems and cleaning your internal organs, it will also increase your attention span, help you to make better decisions, improve your memory and help you to think clearer! Drinking water is essential every day, especially if you’re working hard, taking exams or studying. With all these benefits, who wouldn’t want to drink a few glasses of water per day?

  1. Dark Chocolate

For all the chocoholics out there, you now have a perfect excuse to treat yourself to a bit of chocolate! Dark chocolate contains caffeine, but it is better for your brain and your body than coffee or sugary drinks might be. Because of this, experts recommend swapping your morning coffee for a piece of dark chocolate. Flavinoids in the dark chocolate encourage better blood flow in your body, which is one of the key things when it comes to your brain working more effectively. People are known to eat small amounts of dark chocolate before school exams, job interviews and important events or dates, since the benefits can really be quite amazing for your brain.

  1. Avocados

Avocados are probably another one of those foods which a lot of people don’t like or are reluctant to try. If you have found that you don’t like this food after trying it, try mixing it with salad, stir fry or even slicing it and adding some to your sandwich. If you like it in these contexts, you’re still getting the goodness of the avocado, so there’s no need to change it. Apart from the benefits which this food has for your brain health, it will also improve eye health, heart health and boost testosterone for men
