Manny Pacquiao on Wednesday again said that the fans want to see him fight Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Pacquiao, who is currently promoting his upcoming fight with Chris Algieri in Macau, said the Mayweather fight should happen. The two top-drawing boxers have continually been linked to a superfight but it’s never materialized.

“I want to give the people what they want, the fight with Mayweather, but what can I do if he doesn’t want to fight?” Pacquiao told the Los Angeles Times on Wednesday. “My concern is for the fans. For me, as a boxer, it’s a shame that he claims he’s pound-for-pound champion, that he’s undefeated.

He continued: “He’s ducking another opponent, and it’s known all over the world who he should fight. So … I feel sorry for him. What he needs is … to know how to communicate with people. That’s why I’m so happy and have peace of mind.”

Mayweather is slated to have a rematch with Marcos Maidana, who he took to a decision victory in May.

A few days ago, Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum said that HBO--which shows Pacquiao’s fights--and Showtime--which has Mayweather’s fights--held a discussion and want to jointly show the fight in 2015. Arum said: “Both networks want this to happen. All signs seem to point to a first fight early next year.”

“Maybe next year,” Pacquiao told the Times of the possibility. “I always think positively.”

However, Mayweather has said that he won’t fight Pacquiao unless he signs with Mayweather Promotions, according to Complex.com.

Pacquiao also responded to some of the criticism of Mayweather’s image. Rapper 50 Cent has poked fun at Mayweather, saying he can’t read and is uneducated.

“I think I finally understand him ... what he says ... how he acts ... and I don’t like it,” Pacquiao told NJ.com.

“But what l learned and heard from him, well, I realize why he is like that. I understand sometimes when the people are not educated they just talk to talk. He sets a very bad example,” he said.
