Rumors last week said that a Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao fight would take place later this year, but both Pacquiao and Mayweather denied them.

“I have no plans to go to the United States to talk to Floyd. That’s not true,” Pacquiao told AFP. “If it’s a done deal already, how come I do not know anything about it?”

There were reports in Manila-area newspapers about a potential fight that would take place September 2014. Some papers published a Photoshopped image of Mayweather and Pacquiao at a weigh-in, staring each other down.

Pacquiaos last bout was with American Brandon Rios in November, defeating him. Mayweather last fought Saul “Canelo” Alvarez earlier this year, easily taking a decision victory.

Mayweather last week denied the rumors about a fight, which was said to be worth $300 million.

“All the stories you hear about Pacquiao is a lie. It’s a lie. It’s not true,” Mayweather said, according to FightHypeh. ‘“f it didn’t come from Leonard’s [Ellerbe] mouth, my mouth, or Al’s [Haymon] mouth, it’s not true,” he added.

ESPN named Mayweather, who holds a 45-0 record, its boxer of the year for 2013.

“2013 has been a big year for ‘The Money Team,’” Mayweather told ESPN. “It feels good to be where I currently am in my career. I am looking forward to 2014 being another exciting year for me. I appreciate the recognition and all of the support my fans shown me over the years.”

However, there have been unconfirmed reports saying that Mayweather would fight against Britain’s Amir Khan sometime this year.

Pacquiao told Yahoo Philippines Sports that a fight with Mayweather won’t happen unless his promoter, Bob Arum, says otherwise.

“Floyd has also been saying, he will only fight me if I separate from Top Rank and Bob Arum. That’s impossible because my contract is valid until the end of this year,” Pacquiao told the website. “If my contract is not renewed, we can only talk about a possible fight next year.”

He added: “I have been saying this over and over again, I am not afraid to fight anybody, but if somebody doesn’t want to fight me, same here. I, too, won’t face him who doesn’t want to face me. Floyd himself has been telling the whole world, he doesn’t want to fight me. The feeling is mutual. But if he finally decides that he wants to face me, I’m okay with it.”
