The mayor of a Florida town was arrested for using handicapped parking permits that belonged to deceased people.

Davenport Mayor Darlene Bradley was arrested on felony charges for using the identification of a deceased person. She was also arrested for possessing an altered or counterfeit decal, according to the Bradenton Herald.

The 60-year-old has been Davenport’s mayor since 2015.

Officials said that Bradley was seen placing a handicap placard on her rearview mirror before she left her car. When she returned to her vehicle, she removed it.

Officials said she used the placard when she parked in front of City Hall.

Polk County Sheriff’s deputies found two handicapped placards that were issued to two different people who had died. One died in 2012 and the other in 2015, the Herald reported.

“We expect our elected officials to set the proper example. She not only violated the law, she embarrassed the citizens of Davenport with her illegal conduct,” Sheriff Grady Judd said.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office said it got a tip last month that she was parking in handicap spots, and she “was not known to be handicapped or have a placard issued to her,” according to their press release.
Video footage captured Bradley “exiting the video with no assistance, removing a large wheeled brief/suitcase from the trunk and walking into the City Hall meeting without assistance,” according to Fox.

She was released on $2,250 bond.
