Daniel Castrillon, a Florida man, killed his 7-year-old son and 8-year-old daughter before he killed himself, officials said.

The killings took place in Hernando County, said the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office, according to WFLATV.

The 7-year-old was identified as Sebastian and the 8-year-old was identified as Susana.

Castrillon picked up the two kids for a weekend visitation. He later went to the work of the mother of the children, Luz Jimenez, before an argument ensued.

The sheriff’s office said he calmed down and left the workplace.

The children were supposed to attend a birthday party but didn’t show up, Sheriff Al Nienhuis said. As a result, Jimenez became worried after she could not make contact with them.

She later called the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office, who upon investigating Castrillon’s home, found three bodies. A suicide note apparently penned by Castrillon was left.

Roy Gordon, a spokesman for the Hernando County School District, told the Tampa Bay Times that grief counselors met with students.

Sebastian was in the second grade and Susana was a third grader at Chocachatti Elementary School.

“There were some upset teachers at the meeting — understandably so,” Gordon told the Times. “Everybody is kind of stretched.”
