Two cops in Florida discovered an alligator’s foot sticking out of a dashboard of a truck they had pulled over.
Raymond Fettig, 18, of Loxahatchee, was stopped by police officers near Jupiter and Palm Beach Gardens. They wanted to see if Fetting had paid the entry fee for entering the Corbett Wildlife Management Area, according to the Sun Sentinel.
“And there was an odor in the back of the truck,” Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission spokeswoman Carol Lyn Parrish told the newspaper.
He added: “When [the officer] looked in the back of the truck, he located another foot of an alligator that appeared to be fresh.”
Cops found the foot and other alligator parts strewn about the vehicle. There was also some dried blood on the dashboard.
He was charged with illegally possessing a recently killed alligator, the Sun Sentinel reported.
According to MyFox8, he told officers that he hunted the alligator several years ago, but he then confessed to killing it several days ago without a permit.
“I spy with my little eye…” the FWC said in a Twitter post on Monday, “An alligator foot in the dashboard!”
The photo was also tweeted by the “Florida Man” Twitter page.
Alligator hunting is legal with a permit from Aug. 15 until Nov. 1, CNN reported.
The FWC issued a statement on Facebook:
I spy with my little eye… An alligator foot in the dashboard! Officers Luis Merizio and Casey Schroer stopped a truck to check for their day-use pass in a Wildlife Management Area when they noticed something unusual. Scattered throughout the cab of the truck were alligator parts... including the alligator foot in the dashboard of the truck! The driver told our officers that the parts were from an alligator he hunted a few years ago, but our officers could smell that the alligator had been taken recently. After reading him his rights, the man confessed to killing the alligator just a few days ago without a permit, and he was cited for the violation.
