A Charlotte, N.C.-bound flight was diverted Tuesday because a female passenger claimed she had a surgically implanted explosive device, it was reported.

Officials told The Associated Press that a US Airways flight with 188 people on board from Paris was diverted to Maine in the incident. It was escorted by military aircraft as a precaution.

In a note she passed to a flight attendant, the woman claimed to have a device implanted inside of her, reported CNN. Passengers held her down and two doctors on board the plane examined her for scars, but suspected there were no devices inside of her.

A federal law enforcement official briefed on the subject told the network that the woman was “basically no threat.” She is being questioned and will later receive a psychological evaluation.

The Transportation Security Administration in a statement obtained by the news agency said, “Out of an abundance of caution the flight was diverted to (Bangor) where it was met by law enforcement.”
