The mixed-martial arts (MMA) gym where George Zimmerman received training for a year is promoting a “George Zimmerman training” program on its website after the prosecution and defense probed on whether Zimmerman could defend himself against teenager Trayvon Martin in a scuffle.
“To receive information about the training George Zimmerman received at KOKOPELLI'S GYM, please email request by filling out the form provided below,” the gym’s website said, while offering a “Zimmerman Training Information Request Form.” It stipulated that the Zimmerman “training information will be provided for those who request it after the completion of the trial.”
After the Florida-based gym posted the training on its website, users went on Yelp.com and blasted it Wednesday, giving it one-star ratings.
“Nope, nope nope, I wont ever patronize this business. Zimmerman Training?” wrote one user who left one star. “Get some morals,” the user added.
Another user, Tina E., wrote: “If you want to be a soft Pillsbury Doughboy, after a year of MMA training...we are your gym.”
On Tuesday, Zimmerman’s MMA instructor and the owner of the gym, Adam Pollack, descibed Zimmerman as “just physically soft,” according to reports. He said Zimmerman was a poor fighter
Zimmerman got involved in MMA in October 2010 to lose weight and said he was “a beginner.”
He said Zimmerman was obese when he started training. “That was the main focus of why he was there,” Pollack said, referring Zimmerman’s quest to lose weight.
Zimmerman, a Florida neighborhood watch volunteer, is accused of shooting and killing Martin, 17, last year.
