If you think this summer is a dead period for fans of TV series, you’re simply wrong.

Here are the five most interesting productions that will begin in the United States during this summer.

#5 - Outlander, Starz, Starts August 9

The literary romantic saga already made into a film, find space on the small screen. It will catapult viewers from war torn 1945 back in time to Scotland in the first half the 1700s.

#4 - The Last Ship, TNT, Starts June 22

And what if the world’s population were wiped out, and the only survivors were aboard a military ship? Apocalyptic drama is always welcome in the summer. The Last Ship promises to be great entertainment.

#3 - Extant, CBS, Starts July 9

Halle Berry is the main character of a TV show produced Steven Spielberg, who returns to his eternal passion for aliens. The beautiful actress plays the role of a astronaut returning from a solo mission after 30 months in space. However as soon as she gets home, she discovers she is pregnant.

#2 - Tyrant, FX, Starts June 24

Surely the most complex production this summer, made by the creators of Homeland and set in the Middle East, Tyrant aims to tell the Arab reality with a new eye — emphasizing the cultural differences between the east and west.

#1 - The Leftovers, HBO, Starts June 29

Think HBO with the help of Damon Lindelof, co-creator of Lost. Meaning, it’s no wonder that all eyes are focused on this new show, which revolves around the disappearance of 2% of the world’s population.

Possible cult series are on their way, but only time will tell if expectations will be met.
