NEW YORK–The Art and Antique Dealers League of America (AADLA) will be debuting their Spring Show in New York at the Park Avenue Armory on Wed., April 27, 2011. Money from the benefit gala will go to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).

The Spring Show will boast 60 specialists from all over the United States. Show organizers say there will be something for everyone—from the scholarly to the decorative.

“The Art and Antique Dealers League of America is thrilled to partner with the ASPCA and 1stdibs.com to debut our fine and decorative arts fair,” said Clinton Howell, the League’s president.

In addition to the members showcasing their specialties from antiquities to 20th-century works at their booths, each will also offer a selection of animal-themed objects at the opening-night preview. “To keep in the spirit of this worthwhile organization, our dealers will donate a percentage of sales of the animal-related items,” Howell said in a press release.

“Much like art, animals have the ability to fulfill and enrich our lives, and we are honored to be selected as the opening night beneficiary,” said Sean O'Connor, vice president of Special Giving for the ASPCA.

Sponsoring the opening night gala is 1stdibs.com, an online marketplace offering luxury antiques, 20th century and 21st century design, estate and fine jewelry, vintage couture, and fine art.

During the show, there will be a lecture series: conversations with curators, critics, collectors, architects, designers, and antique-market journalists. They’ll cover topics such as designer decorating, building a collection, and art and antiques as an asset.

The AADLA is the principal and oldest antiques and fine arts organization in America. The purpose of the League is to bring the art and antiques traders closer together to promote more understanding among them and with the public. The League makes sure dealers adhere to strict guidelines and rules overseeing the authenticity of the works and integrity of the dealers, thus maintaining respect and trust in the industry—at least with League members.

Founded in 1866, the ASPCA is America’s leading voice for animal welfare. Its mission is to provide effective means for the prevention of cruelty to animals throughout the United States.

The Spring Show opens with an invitation-only benefit preview for the ASPCA at the Park Avenue Armory, Park Avenue and 67th St., on Wed., April 27, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.. The general public is invited from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Admission is $75, and proceeds go to the ASPCA.
