NEW YORK—The first chance for the public to voice their questions and concerns about the looming fare hikes takes place in downtown Brooklyn Wednesday evening.

A range of fare hike options were laid out by Metropolitan Transportation Authority in October, all centering around three different areas—the base and single ride fare, the weekly and monthly fares, and the 7 percent bonus, which is added onto MetroCards that are $10 or more.

Joseph Lhota, chair and CEO of the authority, has said the four proposals are representative and not definitive. Two of them would raise the base fare (the fare for any number of rides other than one) and the single-ride fare $0.25, while only slightly raising the monthly and weekly passes.
