WASHINGTON—The federal government is opening two hours late Tuesday Jan, 18, after a wintry mix of snow and freezing rain coated the Washington region with a layer of ice. Commuter rail Metro is running normally except for a disruption in service between Shady Grove and Twinbrook stations on the Red Line.
The Office of Personnel Management says government employees should arrive at work two hours later than their regular scheduled times.
The office also announced non-emergency federal employees have the option to take unscheduled leave or perform unscheduled telework today, if they meet OPM regulations and qualifying conditions by law.
