Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced that federal disaster assistance has been approved for homeowners, renters, small businesses, and municipalities that suffered damages from Tropical Storm Lee, in addition to parties who have already been approved.

The additions to those currently eligible include public assistance for Ulster County and individual assistance for Oneida, Orange, and Ulster counties. Some nonprofit organizations may be able to obtain funding for cost-sharing emergency, facility repair, or replacement work.

Federal aid available includes crisis counseling, disaster unemployment assistance, USDA food coupons and distribution, and disaster legal services. Additional counties may be made eligible for federal assistance as ongoing damage assessments are completed.

Residents and business owners that sustained losses can begin applying at www.DisasterAssistance.gov. The counties available can be found in the governor’s press announcement.
