Officials were still searching for a missing FBI agent on Monday, four days after he disappeared, it was reported.

Stephen Ivens, 35, left his home in Burbank on Friday and was reported missing by his family, the Burbank Leader reported.

Around 100 police officers had been deployed to search for Ivens along with bloodhounds and helicopters, the newspaper reported.

Officials told the Los Angeles Times that they believed Ivens was carrying a handgun with him and was not considered a threat to anyone except himself. His family told CNN that he was distraught and could possibly be suicidal.

He is believed to be out in the Verdugo Mountains, located near the greater Los Angeles area.

FBI agent Steven Gomez told CNN Ivens was mainly involved in “national security-type” work. “That’s all I can really say about his casework.”

Officials said they have scaled back the search. “We’re not ruling out that he may have gone in a different direction,” Laura Eimiller, a FBI spokesperson, said.
