Fast & Furious 7: After Paul Walker’s Death, More Sequels Planned

There’s been speculation that after Paul Walker’s death nearly a year ago, that Fast & Furious 7 would be the last film in the franchise.

But film executives have said this week that’s not going to happen.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Universal Pictures bosses are hoping to make at least 10 films.

“We think there’s at least three more. Paul is, and always will be, an integral part of the story. But there are many other great characters, and it’s also an opportunity to introduce new characters. I think it’s still a growing franchise,” Universal Pictures chairwoman Donna Langley said, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The film will be released next April.

“We’ll see what happens with Furious 7, obviously, but our box office has grown over the past three or four films and internationally, in particular. So we think that there’s more to mine there. But we’re of course very mindful about fatigue,” she added.

This week, Walker’s father, Paul Sr., told MailOnline that his son was ready to take a break as an actor for his daughter Meadow just weeks before he died.

“Paul was planning on taking a break from starring in movies, and stepping away from Hollywood, to spend more time with Meadow,” he said. “He was so proud of her, she is incredibly intelligent and beautiful, and Paul wanted to be there for her as she grew up.”

“In fact, he would’ve swapped his Hollywood fame for the quiet life with Meadow. Paul wasn’t big on fame and preferred to live modestly. But he signed on for the Agent 47 movie about a hit man, and it was already agreed that if it was successful there would be three further movies made.”
