Fast food weddings will be a regular menu item at Hong Kong McDonald’s restaurants starting Jan. 1 of next year, allowing couples to tie the knot under the Golden Arches with burgers and fries, CNN and German press agency DPA reported on Tuesday.
Three stores of the fast food chain will host wedding ceremonies and provide catering as well as a wedding cake made of McDonald’s apple pies, a McDonald’s spokeswoman told DPA.
A complete wedding at McDonald’s will cost Hongkongers a few thousand Hong Kong dollars, equivalent to a few hundred US dollars. Couples and parties won’t be able to rent out the whole restaurant, and alcohol won’t be allowed in the restaurant.
The spokesperson told DPA that restaurants can accommodate parties of up to 100 people, and that McDonald’s is looking to expand weddings to other restaurants if the pilot program is a success.
