Most of us would love to travel and explore the famed Silk Road, but many of us just can’t. What if we could be brought the fragrances of long-ago caravan journeys to our dressing table? Demeter Fragrance Library to the rescue! I was happy to be hosted to experience it. Demeter makes several tea fragrances, as there are thousands of teas out there. Tea originated in Asia; I’ve been to Chun Shui Tang Tea House [Inventor of Bubble Tea] in Taichun, Taiwan to learn how to make bubble tea.
Chai Tea scent smells like freshly roasted spices at a market; the Silk Road just opens up to your senses! It makes sense that “chai” is the word for tea in Hindi, Russian, many Chinese dialects, Sanskrit, Turkish, Czech and Farsi. It probably leans more towards the masculine in fragrance. It would blend well with masculine energy and natural scent.
Baihao Yinzhen Tea scent has that deep-from-within-the-pot scent, with leaves that are releasing the best of their tea oils. It’s a unisex scent that’s familiar, yet still intriguing. It doesn’t announce itself as a gourmand fragrance. This is how they describe it:
Baihao Yinzhen is a deeper, green scent with heavier wood notes complimented by lighter citrus tones. It is more complex, masculine and deeper that its Silvery Tip cousin.
Chamomile tea is often the first tea given to children . . . maybe that’s why Chamomile Tea scent is so bright and cheerful! This isn’t dried, faded chamomile from a powdered tea mix; rather, it’s got the freshness of the actual living flower. I would describe it as leaning towards more feminine than unisex.
