Ethan Anderson and Hannah Anderson, both siblings, were still missing on Wednesday--a day after an Amber Alert was activated across California. San Diego County authorities said they may have been abducted by a Boulevard, Calif., man who is a suspect in their mother’s death.

Officials said that James Lee DiMaggio, 40, is heading to Canada or Texas. The body of his neighbor Christina Anderson, 44, was found in his burned-down house.

Brett Anderson, the father of the two children and husband to Christina Anderson, sent a message to DiMaggio. “I can’t fathom what you were thinking. ... Let my daughter go, you’ve taken everything else,” he said.

Neither Ethan, 8, or Hannah, 16, have not been seen since their mother’s body was discovered in the burned out home over the weekend.

Anderson also addressed his daughter. “We all love you very much. If you have a chance, you take it. You run. You’ll be found,” he said, according to NBC News.

He did not mention the return of his son. The remains of a child’s body was found in the burned DiMaggio home, but officials did not say whether the child was Ethan Anderson.

The Amber Alert was sent to residents’ phones across California on Monday, startling many. Officials first sent out the alert to people in San Diego County.

“It’s a needle in a haystack,” Bob Hoever, the operator of Amber Alert program for the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, told the Los Angeles Times. “But the more eyes and ears we have, the smaller the haystack becomes and more likely we’ll rescue a child.”

Officials said that people should be on the lookout for a 2013 Nissan Versa with the California license plate 6WCU986.

“Realistically we don’t know where they’re going, we’re keeping a wide net and hopefully we’ll find them. We’re looking everywhere,” San Diego homicide Lt. Glenn Giannantonio told NBC.

DiMaggio was described as 5 feet 9, 150 pounds, with brown eyes and brown hair.

Hannah is 5 feet 7, 115 pounds, with a bellybutton ring, pierced ears, a nose stud, and has blond hair and blue eyes.

Ethan is 4 feet 11, weighs 64 pounds, and has sandy blond hair.
