Singer-songwriter Tamar Braxton, the younger sister of Grammy-winning artist Toni Braxton, is recovering following an incident earlier this week that left her with a fractured nose and several missing teeth.

On Tuesday, the “Love and War” singer revealed in an Instagram Story that one of her friends had discovered her lying “in a pool of blood” on Aug. 17 with a gruesome facial injury.

“I struggled to write this but everyone keeps calling me and honestly, I can’t even really talk anymore[.] I’m so weak. I almost died Sunday,” the 48-year-old penned.

“As the days go by the worse it is,” she continued, adding that she is also experiencing impaired mobility as a result of her injuries.

“The way I look at life now is totally different. As my health is on the mend, my mental journey begins. Pray for me for real. I don’t even know what happened to me.”

Braxton did not share any further details about the incident.

The Epoch Times reached out to her representative for comment, but a response was not received by publication time.

The singer launched her music career in 1989 as part of the quintet The Braxtons. She founded the R&B group with her four sisters—Toni Braxton, 57; Towanda Braxton, 51; Trina Braxton, 50; and Traci Braxton, who died in 2022 at the age of 50 after battling esophageal cancer.

The sisters starred alongside their mother, Evelyn Braxton, in the reality show “Braxton Family Values,” which aired for seven seasons from 2011 to 2020.

A subsequent series, “The Braxtons,” which premiered in August 2024, chronicled the family’s lives in the wake of Traci’s death. A second season was greenlit earlier this year and is expected to premiere this fall.

“This season, the Braxton sisters aim to head back to their roots of fun, humor and spending much needed quality time with one another as they plan and celebrate Towanda’s highly anticipated wedding,” an official synopsis reads.

“As the entire family gathers for the pending nuptials, the sisters also continue to work on healing their relationships and address unresolved issues, which is complicated as they continue processing the intense grief from the passing of their sister, Traci.”

Tamar Braxton, who released her debut solo album in 2000, has also appeared in the spinoff series “Tamar & Vince,” which centered on her relationship with then-husband Vince Herbert, whom she divorced in 2019.

That same year, the singer was crowned the winner of the second season of CBS’s reality show “Celebrity Big Brother.”
