Grammy award-winning singer and songwriter “Pink” is recovering after contracting a bacterial infection while on vacation.
In an Instagram post on Aug. 31, the 45-year-old revealed she was diagnosed with E. coli during an end-of-the-summer vacation with loved ones.
“This is all normal and everything is going really well,” she wrote on social media.
In the post, the “Just Give Me a Reason” singer shared a photo of herself relaxing while receiving IV fluids.
“When you go on vacation and have food and E Coli decides to move into your gut you kill it with friends and daughters and red wine and a vitamin IV concoction,” she wrote.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, E. coli is a type of bacteria commonly found in the intestines of people and animals, as well as food, water, and other environmental settings.
When one contracts an E. coli infection, the bacteria cause sickness that leads to diarrhea, vomiting, urinary tract infections, and in severe cases, pneumonia, sepsis, and other illnesses.
E. coli is one of the most common known foodborne pathogens, which affect an estimated 48 million people each year, with thousands of reported hospitalizations and even deaths.
“Ahhh life and lemons and lemonade and great memories that I might remember,” the singer added, without revealing where exactly she was vacationing or how she got sick.
In 2023, Pink kicked off her Summer Carnival tour, where she performed over 100 shows across the globe before concluding in November of last year.
During that time, she postponed a number of shows for various medical-related issues, including scheduled performances in Vancouver, Canada, after contracting a respiratory infection.
“Vancouver shows postponed. Sending everyone lots of love and my sincere apologies xoxo,” she wrote on X in October 2023.
Concert dates in Tacoma, Washington, were also rescheduled that month due to family medical issues that required immediate attention, and a sinus infection in September 2023 had her miss shows in the Dallas, Texas, area.
“Hi everyone. I’m very sorry to report that I have come down with a bad sinus infection, and the doctor advised me not to perform tonight,” she told followers at the time.
“I am so disappointed. You know I do everything in my power to never miss a show.”
Pink rose to fame at the age of 15 after signing with LaFace Records in 1995 with her girl group Choice, before releasing her first solo studio album “Can’t Take Me Home” in 2000.
Since her debut, she has sold over 60 million albums worldwide and landed 15 singles in the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
With more than 100 award nominations and dozens of wins, Pink earned her first Grammy nod in 2002 for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals for her collaborative single “Lady Marmalade.”
