Reese Witherspoon has enlisted the help of fellow actor Chris Pine to narrate her forthcoming debut novel, “Gone Before Goodbye,” co-penned by bestselling author Harlan Coben.
The Oscar-winning actress took to Instagram on Wednesday to share that Pine and a handful of other actors, including Kiff VandenHeuvel, Suehyla El-Attar Young, Peter Ganim, and James Fouhey, had lent their voices to the audio version of her new book.
“I’m so proud of the one-of-a-kind recording with the most amazing actors ... I can’t wait for you to get swept away by all the twists & turns and these mesmerizing performances.”
Out Oct. 14, “Gone Before Goodbye” centers on an Army combat surgeon named Maggie McCabe, who finds herself without purpose after losing her medical license following a series of tragedies.
Since releasing his debut novel, “Play Dead,” in 1990, Coben has authored more than 30 books, including “Fool Me Once” (2016), “Run Away” (2019), “The Boy from the Woods” (2020), and “Win” (2021). His latest thriller, “Nobody’s Fool,” hit bookshelves in May.
The author has also created and executive-produced several Netflix shows based on his bestselling novels, among them “The Woods,” “Stay Close,” and “The Stranger.”
On the heels of his 2023 Prime Video series “Shelter,” an adaptation of his 2011 book of the same name, Coben is set to launch the new original series “Lazarus” on the streaming platform. The show, which stars Sam Claflin and Bill Nighy, debuts on Oct. 22.
Witherspoon, who founded her own book club in 2017, has previously written several children’s books. She also penned the 2018 book “Whiskey in a Teacup,” a lifestyle guide, cookbook, and memoir inspired by her Southern roots.
Coben and Witherspoon will embark on a book tour in October to promote their new thriller, with stops planned for Los Angeles, New York City, Nashville, and London, among other cities.
