Longtime Actor Sid Haig Dies at 80, Wife Confirms

Sid Haig, a longtime actor who appeared in a number of horror films, died at the age of 80, according to his wife.

His wife, Susan Olberg, said on his Instagram page that “on Saturday, September 21, 2019, my light, my heart, my true love, my King, the other half of my soul, Sidney, passed from this realm on to the next.”

She added that he is now “a shining star in her heavens.”

“Goodnight, my love. We will find each other again, next time. I love you,” his wife also wrote.

Adding further, she asked the public to give his family privacy and time to mourn.

“He was my angel, my husband, my best friend and always will be. He adored his family, his friends and his fans. This came as a shock to all of us,” Olberg added.

Haig appeared in Quentin Tarantino’s “Jackie Brown” and “Kill Bill: Volume 2,” but he is best known for his role in “House of 1,000 Corpses,” playing Captain Spaulding. He appeared in a number of other horror movies of his 50-year-long acting career, according to his IMDB page.

He also appeared in TV shows such as “MacGyver,” “The Fall Guy,” “Jason of Star Command,” “Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman,” “Get Smart,” “Batman,” “Gunsmoke,” “Star Trek,” “The Lucy Show,” and many more.

Overall, according to his IMDB page, he had 149 acting credits to his name, appearing on screen for the first time in 1960.

His cause of death has not been disclosed.

Haig had recently been taken to a hospital’s intensive care unit after he was involved in an accident, according to TMZ. On Sept. 6, his wife asked for prayers on his Instagram page.

A representative for the actor told the news outlet that the accident took place at his home, but they did not elaborate.
