Paul Jason Klein, lead vocalist of the pop rock band LANY, is on the mend after sustaining injuries in a traffic accident last week.

On June 11, the 36-year-old took to Instagram to share that he had been struck by a vehicle while riding his Vespa—an Italian brand of scooters—home from the gym on June 6.

“I don’t really remember anything after the collision. I woke up on a stretcher being put into an ambulance,” he wrote, alongside a series of photos taken following the harrowing accident.

In the first image, Mr. Klein can be seen lying on a hospital bed wearing a neck brace with bloodied marks visible on his face. The subsequent photos—one of which shows Mr. Klein sitting in a wheelchair with a bandaged leg—appear to have been taken after the singer was discharged from the hospital.

“I’ve cried a lot of thankful and happy tears during the last few days. I know how fortunate I am to still be here,” he wrote. “All of my vitals are good, but walking and moving around is still a challenge. I’m getting progressively better though and will be at 100% really soon.”

Tour Dates Postponed

In his Instagram post, Mr. Klein noted that his doctors had advised him to reschedule his band’s upcoming shows in Australia and New Zealand to help “fast track” his recovery.
LANY kicked off the North American leg of its “A Beautiful Blur: World Tour” in February, following the release of its fifth studio album, “A Beautiful Blur,” last fall. According to the Los Angeles-based band’s website, five shows were slated in Australia this month, with stops in Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Sydney, and Melbourne. LANY was also scheduled to perform in Auckland, New Zealand, on June 30, and tour dates are planned across Asia and Europe throughout the summer and later this year.

“For those of you that have purchased a ticket for aus/nz, hold onto them and the new dates will be released shortly,” Mr. Klein wrote. “Thank you for understanding. This experience has only intensified the feelings of purpose I have, so I can’t wait to heal up and get back to it. All other tour dates are staying the same. I love you and this life deeply! See u soon.”

Mr. Klein’s Instagram post, published in collaboration with his band, garnered more than 15,000 comments, including well-wishes from fellow artists, actors, and fans.

Actress Lana Parrilla offered mending heart emojis.

Singer Blu DeTiger commented, “Sending healing to you Paul.”

Nashville-based singer-songwriter Alana Springsteen conveyed a similar sentiment, writing, “Sending love and prayers ur [sic] way.”

Country music singer Shane McAnally sent his wishes for a speedy recovery. “So glad you’re gonna be ok,” he wrote. “This is terrifying.”

On June 12, Mr. Klein shared his Instagram post to his stories, expressing his gratitude for all of the support.

“Never felt so loved in my entire life,” he wrote. “Can’t thank y'all enough for the kindness.”

LANY

Mr. Klein co-founded LANY—an acronym for Los Angeles and New York—in 2014 with his friends, drummer Jake Goss and keyboardist Les Priest. The band released its self-titled debut album in June 2017, followed by “Studio Nights” in 2018, “Mama’s Boy” in 2020, and “Gg bb xx” in 2021.

However, in April 2022, LANY revealed via Instagram that Mr. Priest had decided to part ways with the band to pursue a solo career.

“Hello family we’re writing songs and making a new album and feel so energized about the future. As we move into a beautiful year of music and touring, we wanted to share that our brother Les has decided to leave the band to focus on life as a writer/producer in Nashville,” the band shared on Instagram at the time.

“We love him and his family with all of our hearts and are forever grateful to him for building LANY with us into what it is today. No one will ever be able to replace him so LANY will continue as just us - Paul and Jake,” the statement said.

“A Beautiful Blur” is the first album LANY released without Mr. Priest. Following news of his departure, the 40-year-old also penned a statement on Instagram, sharing that he was “blessed beyond measure with friendship and opportunity” when he joined the band.

“Being in LANY was a true gift. A gift with many ups and down, joys and heartaches. There is a time and place for everything. Now is the time for a new chapter,” Mr. Priest continued. “I’m parting ways to invest more fully in the other areas of my life. Thank you to everyone who played a part in this experience. Love, Les.”
