WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif.—Actor/director John Krasinski is pretty sure some of his favourite movies wouldn’t get made in today’s Hollywood. Films like “The Verdict,'‘ ’‘Kramer vs. Kramer,” ’'Ordinary People” and other small dramas of that ilk seem to be even rarer and rarer in the ever-dwindling slate of studio films. Krasinski feels the absence both as an audience member and an actor.

“People feel defined by those movies,'‘ Krasinski said in a recent interview at a hotel just off the Sunset Strip. ”Imagine if ’The Verdict‘ hadn’t been made or whatever your favourite is!’’
