Harrison Ford has been named as SAG-AFTRA’s next recipient of the Life Achievement Award in honor of his legendary Hollywood career and humanitarian efforts.

Ford, 83, will receive the prestigious accolade during the 32nd Annual Actor Awards presented by the Screen Actors Guild—American Federation of Television and Radio Artists.

“I am deeply honored to be chosen as this year’s recipient of the SAG-AFTRA Life Achievement Award,” said Ford in a statement. “To be acknowledged by my fellow actors means a great deal to me.”

“I’ve spent most of my life on film sets, working alongside incredible actors and crews, and I’ve always felt grateful to be part of this community.”

The award is administered annually to those who display the “finest ideals of the acting profession.” According to the federation, the recipient is typically a well-established performer who over the years has positively contributed onscreen and behind the scenes through philanthropic or humanitarian efforts.
“Harrison Ford is a singular presence in American life; an actor whose iconic characters have shaped world culture,” said SAG-AFTRA President Sean Astin in the statement. “His career has been endlessly exciting, always returning to his love of acting. We are honored to celebrate a legend whose impact on our craft is indelible.”

The event will be held at the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall in Los Angeles and streamed live on Netflix on March 1 at 8 p.m. ET and 5 p.m. PT.

Earlier this year, Ford reached another milestone in his six-decade career by earning his first Emmy nomination for his role in the Apple TV+ comedy “Shrinking.”
The 77th annual Emmy nominations were announced on July 15, with the actor receiving a nod for outstanding supporting actor in a comedy series.

Best known for his portrayal of Han Solo in the “Star Wars” franchise and his leading role in “Indiana Jones,” Ford has received 63 award nominations, most notably for best actor at the Oscars for the 1985 film “Witness.“ The winner was William Hurt for his role in ”Kiss of the Spider Woman.”

Ford has won 50 awards, including the Critics’ Choice Career Achievement Award (2024), Golden Globes Cecil B. DeMille Award (2002), and AFI Life Achievement Award (2000).

Beyond acting, Ford found passion in environmental and humanitarian causes, serving as vice chair of Conservation International and advocating for global conservation through EarthShare, Restore Hetch Hetchy, and the climate-focused documentary series “Years of Living Dangerously.”

Mirroring his “Indiana Jones” character, Ford also supports archaeological preservation across the world, serving as a general trustee of the Archaeological Institute of America.
