Soccer legend David Beckham has offered a veiled response to his son Brooklyn Peltz Beckham’s lengthy Instagram posts addressing rumors of a family feud between his parents and his wife, Nicola Peltz Beckham.
“I have always spoken about social media and the power of social media. For the good and for the bad,” Beckham, 50, said. “The bad we’ve talked about with what kids can access these days, it can be dangerous.”
Beckham then brought up his own children—Brooklyn, Romeo, 23, Cruz, 20, and Harper, 14—who he shares with his wife Victoria Beckham.
“What I have found personally, especially with my kids as well, use it for the right reasons,” he said.
“I’ve been able to use my platform and my following for UNICEF. And it has been the biggest tool to make people aware of what’s going on around the world for children.”
He then said he tries to share his approach with his children.
“I’ve tried to do the same with my children, to educate them,“ he said. ”They make mistakes, but children are allowed to make mistakes. That is how they learn. That is what I try to teach my kids. You sometimes have to let them make those mistakes as well.”
Beckham’s comments come after a series of Instagram stories posted by Brooklyn one day earlier, in which he detailed longstanding grievances with his parents.
Brooklyn wrote that he does “not want to reconcile with my family,” explaining he had “been silent for years and made every effort to keep these matters private.”
He accused his parents of undermining his relationship with actress Nicola Peltz Beckham, whom he married in 2022.
“My parents have been trying endlessly to ruin my relationship since before my wedding, and it hasn’t stopped,” Brooklyn said.
He claimed his mother, Victoria, a former Spice Girl turned fashion designer, backed out of designing Nicola’s wedding dress at “the eleventh hour,” leaving her scrambling to find another dress.
He also said Victoria “hijacked” their first dance, which he described as humiliating and uncomfortable.
Their first dance “had been planned weeks in advance to a romantic love song,” he said.
Instead, “in front of our 500 wedding guests, Marc Anthony called me to the stage, where in the schedule was planned to be my romantic dance with my wife but instead my mum was waiting to dance with me instead,” he said.
“She danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone,” he added. “I’ve never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life.”
Brooklyn also alleged ongoing disrespect toward his wife.
“My wife has been consistently disrespected by my family, no matter how hard we’ve tried to come together as one,” he wrote.
Additionally, he claimed, “My mum has repeatedly invited women from my past into our lives in ways that were clearly intended to make us both uncomfortable.”
The couple were married in 2022 but renewed their vows in a ceremony in August 2025, in which David and Victoria were not present.
