Thousands of Luke Bryan’s California fans were able to experience the country singer’s Farm Tour after the highly anticipated concert series made its debut in the Golden State earlier this month.
On Wednesday, the “Country Song Came On” singer shared a behind-the-scenes look at his 16th tour as it rolled into the state for the very first time.
From May 15–17, the Georgia native held shows in the agricultural communities of Atwater, east of San Jose; Clovis, just outside of Fresno; and Shafter, northwest of Bakersfield.
“I wanted to change things up and come to California because I think California gets forgotten in how important they are,” he said.
“So I just want to make sure that California farmers know that me being a Georgia boy, loves ‘em and remembers ’em, and we appreciate ‘em and we’re pulling for ’em.”
Bryan, 48, launched the annual event in 2009, setting up stages on farmlands across America as a way to honor hard-working farmers in small towns.
A portion of the tour’s proceeds is donated to various initiatives that support farmers, including granting college scholarships to students who come from farming families.
“These nights are one-of-a-kind and we really enjoy getting to know the farmers and their families, love the whole atmosphere of playing on these incredible farms and watching entire communities come together and get excited about these shows.”
Bryan, who released his debut album, “I'll Stay Me,” in August 2007, is set to bring his Farm Tour to the Midwest later this year. He currently has concerts scheduled to take place on farms in Wisconsin, Illinois, and Michigan in September.
“I think the fans love that something like this is coming to their town that they never thought something this grandiose would be there,” the singer said on Facebook.
“I think if they can look back and ride by that field 20 years from now and go, ‘You know, we saw a Farm Tour in that field,’—I think is pretty special.”
