During a recent appearance on “The Deep End With Lecrae” podcast, television personality Blac Chyna, whose real name is Angela White, opened up about her faith journey, recounting her decision to leave the adult entertainment industry behind and commit her life to Jesus.

“It was just time,” the former exotic dancer told the podcast’s host, Christian hip-hop artist Lecrae.

“I was just, like, really honestly just tired of myself and ... tired of, like, waking up and feeling a certain type of way ... when I know for a fact, like, I’m way smarter than that,” she explained. “I know ... what’s right and what’s wrong.”

Ms. White, who shares daughter Dream, 7, with socialite Rob Kardashian and son King Cairo, 11, with rapper Tyga, rose to prominence in 2010 after appearing in a Kanye West music video. The 36-year-old later found success as a model and reality television star before pivoting to OnlyFans as a way to make extra money around the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ms. White partly attributed her decision to start making adult content for the subscription-based platform to a costly legal battle she was engaged in at the time.

“Let me tell you that court case was very, very, very expensive,” she told the Grammy Award-winning rapper. Ms. White was presumably referring to the $100 million defamation lawsuit she waged against several members of the Kardashian family in 2017, claiming they harmed her career by getting her reality show “Rob & Chyna” canceled.

“It was super expensive, and I’m looking at them, them fees, and I’m like, ‘Okay, I need to finish this out because I know right is right and wrong is wrong,” she continued.

Committing to Jesus

Ms. White lost her defamation case on May 2, 2022, and was awarded no damages. Roughly one week later, on May 11, the television personality decided to turn over a new leaf in her life, choosing to celebrate her 34th birthday by getting baptized.

The following September, Ms. White got sober, and a few months later, she deactivated her OnlyFans account.

“When I stopped it, I remember calling my bishop; it was like 3 or 4 in the morning,” she recalled. “I’m like, ‘Alright, I want you to be on the phone with me, I’m about to press the button, I’m about to deactivate the OnlyFans.’ He was like, ‘Oh, praise God.’”

Despite making “millions” on the platform, Ms. White explained that she wanted to pursue a different career path in order to provide for her family. “There’s other ways of making it. Even when I stopped the OnlyFans, I didn’t have a backup plan,” she shared. “So we’ve been rolling by faith this whole time.”

Physical Change

Several physical changes also marked Ms. White’s transformative journey. Early last year, the entrepreneur began reversing her cosmetic procedures, which included dissolving fillers in her cheeks and jawline and undergoing breast and buttock reduction surgeries.
“I removed all my face fillers, I’m so happy,” she captioned a video posted to her Instagram account on March 15, 2023. “Enough is enough. It all has to come out,” she said in the clip. “I want to dissolve all of it. Just dissolve it. Back to the baseline.”

She continued: “I’m tired of the look, and it’s just not flattering. It’s just not what I look like. It, like, totally changed my face and I’m just, I’m ready to get back to Angela—Blac Chyna’s Blac Chyna. You know what I mean? And I feel like I’ve outgrown that, and it’s just time for, like, a change.”

Speaking with Lecrae, Ms. White said she was pleased with her decision to return to her natural, more authentic self. “I’m glad I did it because that stuff looked crazy,” she admitted. “My face looked crazy.”

Earlier in the episode, the 44-year-old rapper said he was proud of Ms. White for embarking on her metamorphosis.

“People don’t understand how this industry will chew you up. People don’t understand how this industry will suck you in and like just create this false world that you get caught up in. And I think ... it’s spiritual—it’s a lot of darkness that happens behind the scenes, but I’m proud of you because that’s hard to push away,” he said.

“You’re in it in it. You’re in the industry ... you’re with the most prominent families ... you’re in all these spaces and places, and then you just hit the brakes and turn the wheel,” he continued. “To me, that’s admirable. To me, that says something more powerful ... got a hold of you and got you to a different place.”
