Alicia Silverstone has shared a few details of what fans can expect to see when she reprises her role as the Beverly Hills fashionista and “it girl” Cher Horowitz in Peacock’s forthcoming series sequel to the beloved 1995 rom-com “Clueless.”

“I’m really excited about it,” the actress said during an Aug. 7 appearance on the “Today” show.

“The goal is to make it honor what everyone loves about ‘Clueless’ and Cher. So we want to honor that, but also bring something fresh and new to it. I’m confident that we’ll be able to do that, but we’re in baby stages right now.”

Silverstone, 48, starred alongside actors Paul Rudd, Stacey Dash, and the late Brittany Murphy in the 1990s cult classic, a modern adaptation of British author Jane Austen’s 1815 novel “Emma.”

The coming-of-age comedy—written and directed by Amy Heckerling and produced by Robert Lawrence—centers on Horowitz, a popular teen at the fictional Bronson Alcott High School, and her best friend, Dionne, played by Dash, as they navigate the social dynamics of high school as well as the complexities of love and identity.

Earlier this year, Deadline reported that the series follow-up was in the works, with Silverstone slated to executive produce alongside Heckerling and Lawrence.

Jordan Weiss, who penned the screenplay for the 2025 film “Freakier Friday,” and “Gossip Girl” creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage will also serve as executive producers of the show in addition to writing the script.

A release date has not yet been announced, but the new project will mark the second time a “Clueless” series has graced the small screen.

A sitcom of the same name—created by Heckerling—premiered on ABC in 1996.

The show aired for one season before moving to the UPN network for two more seasons, concluding in 1999. Since Silverstone was unavailable, Canadian actress Rachel Blanchard stepped in to play Horowitz, with Dash reprising her role as Dionne.

Before portraying Horowitz on the big screen, Silverstone made her film debut in the 1993 psychological thriller “The Crush,” taking home the MTV Movie Award for “Best Breakthrough Performance” the following year.

The actress is also known for her roles in “Batman & Robin” (1997), “Blast from the Past” (1999), “Beauty Shop” (2005), “Last Survivors” (2021), and “Reptile” (2023), among other films.

Silverstone’s latest project—the six-part crime drama “Irish Blood”—is scheduled to premiere on Acorn TV on Aug. 11.

The actress plays a Los Angeles divorce lawyer named Fiona Sharpe, who embarks on a journey to Ireland after receiving a mysterious package from her estranged father, uncovering startling truths about her family’s past, according to the synopsis.

“I really love the mystery and crime-solving elements, but it’s also really quirky,” Silverstone said of the show during her recent “Today” interview.

“It’s rich with emotional drama, too. So it was something for me to really sink my teeth into. And I think the storytelling is really good, and the people who are watching it will have a fun ride.”
