Award-winning British actress Jane Seymour hasn’t changed much over the years, especially when it comes to maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
While attending the SAG-AFTRA Foundation Conversations Presents Jane Seymour Career Retrospective event on May 20 in Los Angeles, the 74-year-old shared her dieting secrets that have kept her at a size 4 for decades.
“I start the day with coffee and hard boiled eggs for protein, and it isn’t until later, around lunch time, that I have a full meal because then I can really enjoy it.”
The “Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman” alum limits herself to one big meal a day, but continues to fuel her body with protein filled nuts, seafood, and produce.
“I love fish and vegetables, and grow many greens in my back yard which I love to use,” she added.
The actress notes that the key to maintaining her healthy eating habits is viewing her diet as a lifestyle approach that focuses on overall food quality rather than quantity.
“If you think you are on a diet, you will lose track, you will cheat,” she explained. “But if you find healthy foods you really love, that make you feel good, you never feel shorted.”
Working in the entertainment industry, Seymour understands the pressure to look a certain way and in the past has spoken out about how she focuses on health and wellness instead of turning to plastic surgery.
“Skin care is really important, I think the way I eat—I eat good Mediterranean food. Take vitamins. I exercise a little bit,” she continued.
“So, anything that I can do to, you know, keep myself fit and healthy and be able to play all the characters I play.”
