A copy of the original “Superman No. 1” comic sold for a whopping $9.12 million at auction, leaving its Bay-area owners shocked at the record-setting feat.

The near-pristine copy of the 1939 debut of Superman’s first standalone comic was named the world’s most expensive comic book ever sold last week, according to Heritage Auctions.
