There are no reports of any injuries or evacuations, according to The Associated Press, which also noted that local students have been kept safe inside schools.

The initial explosion started a large fire as clouds of smoke, visible about 35 miles away from Houston, billowed up into the sky. Reuters reported that there were multiple explosions.

The plant is located on top of a salt dome, storing millions of cubic feet of liquid natural gas, according to Reuters.

Nearby buildings, including ONEOK Partners’ natural gas fractionation facility in Mont Belvieu, were evacuated.

Enterprise Products Partners L.P. stock (NYSE: EPD) fell 2.6 percent by $1.15 in Tuesday trading to close at $42.65.
