The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) have announced the creation of the State Energy Efficiency (SEE) Action Network.

The network is intended to help states achieve maximum cost effective energy efficiency in homes, offices, buildings, and industry. The deadline for the goal is 2020.

The improvements should help save money and protect the environment.

“In the clean energy future, energy efficiency is action number one,” said EPA Administrator Lisa P. Jackson in a statement.

“We can cut greenhouse gases and protect our environment at the same time we save money for homeowners, schools, and businesses.”

DOE and EPA will lead the SEE Action Network, and in cooperation with other member organizations, they will help states with their energy efficiency initiatives, including residential efficiency programs, financing solutions, and improving availability of energy usage information.
