Elderly Man Killed by a Backhoe Clearing Snow in Brooklyn

An elderly man was killed by a backhoe clearing snow in Brooklyn on Feb. 3, officials said.

When Stanislav Chernyshov, 73, walked out of his apartment in Oceana Drive West and crossed Oceana Terrace at around 12 noon, a backhoe backed into him, police said.

Authorities said he was taken to Coney Island Hospital but was pronounced dead.
