Elder Scrolls Online beta invites are being sent out ahead of a release date of sometime in 2014.
On Thursday, ZeniMax Online Studios said it is sending out the invites for the MMORPG, which will be subscription-based, according to its website.
“To those of you who received an invite: welcome! Please create your account and start downloading the client at your earliest convenience. We’re looking forward to your feedback and hope you enjoy the test. If you didn’t receive an invite, we appreciate your patience,” it reads.
It added that “don’t forget to look in your spam folder. If you’re a Gmail user, remember that our invites are automatically filtered to the ‘promotions’ tab.”
The vice president of Bethesda, Pete Hines, said via Twitter that “A LOT of beta invites going out for ESO (reminder: closed beta, under NDA). Maybe I'll see you in Tamriel this weekend?”
According to Polygon, the Elder Scrolls Online will be released next year for Mac, Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, and will require a $14.99 monthly subscription to play. The developer, the website said, might offer discounts for purchasing more than one month.
This week, ZeniMax posted a blog about PvP, balance, and skills, focusing on lockpicking.
“Tamriel is a dangerous place. If you let your guard down while you focus on lockpicking, you might get attacked,” it reads, adding: “Enemy NPCs might do this anywhere in the world, and hostile players will love the opportunity to surprise you in Cyrodiil. But then again, you never know what loot might be in that chest.”
Regarding PvP rankings, it says that one “can gain many military-themed titles from the PvP ranking system. There are also lots of achievements to earn and leaderboards that show how many Alliance Points you’ve earned in a campaign. The leaderboards update every 10 minutes or so and are filterable by class, alliance, and overall rankings.”
