The U.S. House of Representatives on Saturday voted 416-4 on H.R. 2251 name a courthouse in Fergus Falls, Minnesota.
They named it after the late Rep. Edward J. Devitt, a Republican from Minnesota.
Devitt died in 1992 at the age of 80.
Rep. Richard Hanna from New York explained why he voted on it.
“Judge Edward Devitt served as an Assistant Attorney General for Minnesota, a U.S. Representative from Minnesota and a judge on the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota,” he wrote. “I support naming the U.S. Courthouse in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, after Judge Devitt to honor his service to our judicial system.”
However, some Twitter users were perplexed why the House was voting on naming a courthouse when a government shutdown is looming.
