Three matches were played in Round 8 of the Hong Kong Cricket Association Sunday League Championship last weekend Nov 11. KCC Templars won their confrontation easily against LSW Knights, but it was a very competitive match between HKCC Wanderers and LSW JKN.
LSW Knights were overshadowed by a strong KCC Templars’ team. LSW Knights won the toss and decided to bat, but were dismissed for 46 runs in only 12.2 overs, with the wickets shared between the two opening attack of A. Haider and A. Kanthan, with Haider taking four wickets for 24 runs and Kanthan taking five wickets for 21 runs. One batsman was run out.
Openers W. Barkat and R. Campbell knocked off the runs without difficulty in just six overs in a rather one-sided match.
In the HKCC Wanderers-LSW JKN match at the HKCC ground, Wanderers batted first and scored 210 runs for eight wickets in their 50 overs. LSW JKN in reply lost two early wickets, but wicket keeper opener N. Hameed and the middle order batsmen pulled together to bring their score within a few runs of the target. N.M. Khan hit a delightful 56 just seeing the 100 total come up before being dismissed.
It was a close and exciting finish and one that could have gone either way. However, LSW JKN won with their final wicket still intact and with eight overs to spare.
In the KCC Infidels-HKCC Optimists bottom of the table confrontation, KCC Infidels won, taking them off the bottom of the standings table.
League Standings
After Round 8, KCC Templars lead the table with 14 points, ahead of Shaffi’s Vagabonds on run-rate, having played three games each; but Pakistan Association are lurking in third place with a total of 10 points from only two games.

LSW Knights play HKCC Scorpions at PKVR Sports Ground; KCC Templars are at home to Shaffi’s Vagabonds; and HKCC Wanderers play USRC/Millennium at the KCC ground.
