Ahh, Facebook. The social network we love to hate and hate to love. Facebook is easily the most trafficked social service in the world and people spend countless hours stalking, err, keeping up with friends, sharing news stories and posting about their own lives.
Of course, there are also plenty of things about the service that are a little bit annoying or even downright infuriating.
The birthday notifications that are enabled by default for each and every one of your Facebook friends falls somewhere in between “a little bit annoying” and “downright infuriating,” but luckily it couldn’t be easier to disable them.

As Huffington Post reminded us in a recent post, turning off birthday notifications can be accomplished in two simple steps. As with anything else involving Facebook’s settings, however, there’s so much clutter that it’s often easy to miss simple things like this.
But don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.
If constant birthday notifications are driving you crazy, simply go to Facebook.com and do the following:
- Click the globe in the menu bar at the top of the screen, then click Settings
- Now simply click the Edit link next to Birthdays and change the setting to Off
That’s it… you’re free!
