The ramp to the East River Ferry in Greenpoint on India Street has collapsed into the river, and the ferry service at the stop  has been suspended.

The cause of the collapse is being investigated and and repairs will be made, East River Ferry service said in a statement.

No one was injured by the ramp collapse.

“While I am thankful that no one was harmed during the ramp collapse, it is deeply troubling that lives were put at risk this morning,“ councilmember Stephen Levin stated. ”The East River Ferry is an important transportation option for an underserved community in Greenpoint, but residents need to have complete assurance that their trip will be a safe one.”

Levin said service should not resume until the cause of the collapse was determined.

“I have been in touch with the NYC Economic Development Corporation and will be in close conversation with them as they investigate what happened this morning in Greenpoint,” Levin said.
