A 5.2-magnitude earthquake that hit the Canadian province of Ontario on Friday was felt in Toronto and even as far away as Ohio, it was reported.
Earthquake Canada said that the quake hit at 9:43 a.m. on Friday, more than 10 miles east of Shawville, Quebec.
“I’ve lived here my whole life and never felt anything like it,” Shawville Mayor Albert Armstrong told the Toronto Star.
The earthquake was felt in Toronto, Ottawa, Huntsville, and Waterloo, according to the paper. There were reports from as far away as Ohio.
“Concern citizens (sic) have called #toronto police regarding the #earthquake. We have had no reported injuries or damage at this time,” said Toronto Police Service media officer Wendy Drummond on Twitter.
Around 10 minutes after the first quake struck, a 4.1-magnitude aftershock was reported in the same area.
The Associated Press reported that residents in parts of Michigan also felt the quake.
