The quake hit at a relatively shallow depth of 9.3 miles.
It hit about 11 miles west-southwest of Gold Beach, Oregon; 147 miles west-northwest of McKinleyville, California; 149 miles west-northwest of Eureka, California; and 150 miles west-northwest of Arcata, California.
It was also 274 miles from Salem, Oregon.
