Earthquake Today in California: Quake Hits Off the Coast Near San Simeon

An earthquake hit today in California just off the coast, about 23 miles northwest of San Simeon and 32 miles southwest of King City.

The 4.1 magnitude quake also hit 35 miles south-southwest of Greenfield and 40 miles south-southwest of Soledad.

To put the location in more context, the quake hit 188 miles south of Sacramento.

It hit at a depth of 5.6 miles, the U.S. Geological Service reported.
