Earthquake Today in California, Off the Coast of Fortuna, Eureka, Arcata

An earthquake hit today in California about 50 miles off the coast of Ferndale and Fortuna.

The 4.7 magnitude quake was also 60 miles west-southwest of Eureka and 66 miles west-southwest of Arcata.

The quake was also 237 miles northwest of Sacramento.

It hit at a relatively shallow depth of 1.6 miles, according to the U.S. Geological Service.
