An earthquake struck today off the coast of California.
It was pegged 24 miles southwest of Ferndale; 29 miles southwest of Fortuna; 39 miles southwest of Eureka; and 45 miles southwest of Bayside, according to the U.S. Geological Service.
The quake hit at at a depth of 11.7 miles, or 18.9 kilometers.
A number of quakes have been hitting in the area over the past week.
