[xtypo_dropcap]T[/xtypo_dropcap]he Chatham-Kent Police Service in Ontario released the details of its dumbest criminal of the year Wednesday, sharing the story of a man who called police to correct a news report about a break and enter he was involved in. The man told the police all about the crime, including details that only the perpetrator could have known; helpfully, he told them his name as well.

His recorded confession will hurt all three men involved in the crime when they face trial, police said.

The same police department awarded an honorable mention to a 17-year-old boy who called 911 after his father broke his bong when he caught the teen smoking marijuana. Police didn't charge the boy but cautioned about the use of 911, and smoking marijuana.
