Due Date movie sales performed well at box offices during its first weekend, reaching $33.5 million in the United States, and $21.5 million internationally in 36 countries, with particularly good sales in Germany and the United Kingdom, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Due Date was released in the U.S. on Friday, Nov. 5, and stars Zach Galifianakis and Robert Downey Jr.

It came in well behind Megamind which topped Box Office Mojo’s list of top-grossing movies, bringing in $47.65 million this weekend, also its first weekend.

The comedy revolves around a roadtrip involving two mismatched personalities. Downey Jr’s character needs to get back to Los Angeles in time for his pregnant wife’s due date, but is repeatedly thwarted and frustrated by his colorful fellow road tripper, played by Galifianakis.

“We had an instant kind of rapport,” Robert Downey Jr. said of his comedian colleague in an interview with Critics Choice Movies. “It’s just about my favorite thing I’ve ever done.”

The stars were in London on Wednesday for the U.K. premiere of their show. Galifianakis just scored a part in Jason Segel’s Muppet movie while Downey Jr. has been filming Sherlock Holmes 2 recently.
