Drum and bass DUI: A U.K. man was arrested for driving “high” on drum and bass.

A man was arrested for driving erratically “under the influence” of drum and bass music, a court in the United Kingdom has heard, according to reports.

Delivery driver Aaron Cogley, 25, said that he was “high” on the “intoxicating effects” of the high-speed electronic music, which made him swerve on the road, according to The Sun.

Police said they stopped the Portishead, Bristol, native after he made a sharp turn and ran two red lights.

But The Bristol Post reported that Cogley was breathalyzed and blew a zero.

“It was stupid. He was carried away because of the intoxicating effects of drum and bass music,” his lawyer said, according to the Sun.

Cogley was sentenced to 80 hours worth of community service and was banned from driving for 12 months. He also has to pay around a $100 fine and pass a driving test.

“It’s always serious, dangerous driving. Even if you only went up to 40mph you were lucky that night,” recorder Kevin De Haan said. “You could have had an accident and been hurt, or worse you could have hurt someone else. Police thought you had taken something.”

Haan described drum and bass as “intoxicating for some. Very irritating for others,” according to the Daily Mail.

Drum and bass, also written as drum ‘n’ bass, came about in the 1990s in the U.K. and includes rapid-fire breakbeats, exceeding 160 beats per minute, with heavy bass lines.
