Dr. Fernando Senties Nieto and nurse Mariana Gonzalez Isunza have been identified as two of the four victims in the Learjet crash off the Florida coast.
The crew members flying the plane were Jose Hiram Galvan De Lao and Jose Buendia Moreno.
Senties in particular was well-known in Cozumel, Mexico--the destination of the plane before it crashed.
Condolences on his Facebook page have been pouring in ever since he was identified as one of the deceased.
“I had the pleasure of meeting you, but I very much regret the loss of your life for humanity because a human being as you are needed,” said Marilia Villarreal Garza. “Surely God you need anywhere else where you will illuminate more, hug your family.”
“I hope with all my heart that the news of the death of Dr. Senties are lying, but if it is true, in peace and early resignation to his family,” said Enrique Perez Netas.
The doctor was new to AirEvac International but was a veteran doctor whose background “brought enormous value to patients,” said the medical company in a statement.
Isunza was a 10-year veteran in the medical field who had well over 300 successful flights. “She was also a true friend that will be missed by many,” said the company.
The crash happened in the Atlantic Ocean after the plane took off from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The plane crashed around 10 minutes after departing. It had safely transported a patient from San Jose, Costa Rica to Florida.
AirEvac is a medical evacuation company headquarted in San Diego with multiple bases in Mexico, and a base in Costa Rica.
The cause of the accident isn’t known and the National Transportation Safety Board is investigating.
