Dog six days in car: A dog was rescued after spending six days straight trapped in a car in Seattle without food or water, it was reported.

The Seattle Police Department said that the dog, Zipper, was shaking and frightened in the back of a car. The dog, a pug-beagle mix, was found on Sunday by parking lot security guards, reported KOMO News.

“The dog appeared frightened and was shaken and appeared to be in distress,” Seattle police spokeswoman Renee Witt told the station.

A guard said that the car was parked in the same spot for the past six days.

The officers fed the dog and called the Seattle Animal Shelter, reported the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.

“The animal shelter has not yet been able to contact the dog’s owner, who is apparently out of state,” police spokesman Jonah Spagenthal-Lee said in a statement. “However, Seattle Animal Shelter staff have been in contact with the dogsitter, and plan to have a chat with them about how pets need to have water and food available at all times and shouldn’t be left alone in cars when the weather gets warm.”

Officer Katrina Stuckey told KING-5 television that the car was recently sold to an new and unlisted owner. The car was removed by a tow truck.

Police are not sure if the dog will be returned to its owner or if the owner will be prosecuted for animal cruelty if found, according to Q15 Fox television.
